Lotus (satellite)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lotos (Lotos-S1, GRAU-Index 14F145) is the name for a series of military SIGINT - Russian reconnaissance satellites .

technology

The satellites are jointly manufactured by ZKB Progress in Samara ( satellite bus ) and PLC Arsenal in St. Petersburg (payload). These are to replace both the Tselina-2 -class reconnaissance satellites and the Pion-NKS / US-PM / US-PU / Legenda. They are based on the Jantar reconnaissance satellite and are intended to form a new reconnaissance network called "Liana". As a secondary payload , Lotos is likely to have a scientific payload on board, namely a detector for cosmic rays called "nuclone". The first Lotos-S (14F138) satellite launched was a development pattern that was not yet fully equipped.
