Lou Bennett
Lou Bennett (born May 18, 1926 in Philadelphia , † February 10, 1997 in Paris ) was an American Hammond organ player (Hammond B3).
Bennett settled in Paris in 1960 , where he mainly played with guitarists Jimmy Gourley and René Thomas and drummer Kenny Clarke . In 1966 he recorded a record in Prague with the young guitarist Philip Catherine and the Italian-French drummer Franco Manzecchi . From 1980 he led a quintet in which Gérard Badini played among others .
In the early 1960s, Bennett was, alongside Ingfried Hoffmann, the most famous jazz organist in Europe.
In the French feature film Le glaive et la balance (1963; German title: At the end of all paths ) by André Cayatte he can be seen and heard several times together with Kenny Clarke.
