Hoffmann retired from jazz in 1970 and has since worked almost exclusively as a composer and arranger, including the album Marion Maerz sings Burt Bacharach - page one . Since 1972 he has been the musical director of the German version of Sesame Street . The German title song, which has become extremely popular, came from him. He also worked for Die Sendung mit der Maus und Käpt'n Blaubär . He also wrote film scores and suites for symphony orchestras and jazz soloists such as Wiener Impressionen or The Daily Blues .

On the occasion of Klaus Doldinger's 70th birthday in May 2006, he performed as a pianist in several cities in Germany - together with Doldinger.
