Lou Christie
Lou Christie (* 19th February 1943 as Lugee Alfredo Giovanni Sacco in Glenwillard , Pennsylvania ) is an American singer and songwriter who was mainly very successful in the 1960s.
Live and act
He started his career in the band "Classics" and then in 1961 he founded "Lugee & The Lions". However, it was not very successful. The success came under the name "Lou Christie" and reached its peak in 1966 with the title "Lightnin 'Strikes" and number 1 in the US charts.
He got into major drug problems in the early 1970s. After undergoing rehab in London, he worked a. a. on an oil rig or as a cowboy - the main thing was that they were jobs that had nothing to do with music. In the late 1970s he came to New York and worked as a backing singer . He also appeared regularly on rock 'n' roll revival shows.
In 1981 he joined the formation "Cantina Band" , which had a mediocre success in the USA with a Beach Boys Medley . Since the 1990s he has been appearing more and more at oldie festivals in Europe.
