Lou Mallozzi

Lou Mallozzi (* 1957 ) is an American audio artist whose works include live performances, radio works, sound installations and multimedia works.

His works were u. a. at the Bludenz Festival for Contemporary Music , the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, the Fort Wayne Museum of Art in Indiana, the Podewil in Berlin, the Aetherfest Radio Art Festival in Albuquerque, the Chicago Cultural Center and the Donald Young Gallery , at Subtropics Experimental Music Festival in Miami, the Festival Internacional de Música Electroacústica "Primavera en la Habana" and the Percorsi 98 Festival in Montegrosso d'Asti.

In 1992 he was commissioned by New American Radio to produce a work that was performed at the AART Festival in Dublin (1994), the 5eme Concours International de Radio in Arles (1995) and the Radio Unbound Festival in Edmonton (1995). In 1996 he created the experimental sound for The Drama Review and the accompanying CD Voice Tears . In the same year he produced the pieces Sit close to the fire and Once removed at Spritzenhaus in Hamburg as artist in residence . The piece Drifters was created at Harvestworks in New York . Three of his radio works were published on the CD Radiophagy .

As a performance artist, Mallozzi u. a. at the Cleveland Performance Art Festival (1990), the Randolph Street Gallery in Chicago and the Interlochen Center for the Arts in Michigan. He has performed works by John Cage (62 Mesostics Re Merce Cunningham), Guillermo Gregorio (Rodchenko Suite), Cornelius Cardew (Octet, Treatise) and John Zorn (Cobra).

Mallozzi u. a. with Sandra Binion , Michael Vorfeld , Mats Gustafsson , Jaap Blonk , Michael Zerang , Fred Lonberg-Holm , Carlos Zingaro , Hal Rammel , Katherine Young and Terri Kapsalis in the Ensemble Intégrales . He is a founding member and director of the Experimental Sound Studio in Chicago, where he organized workshops and joint projects with artists such as George Lewis , Gregory Whitehead , Guillermo Gomez-Peña and Laetita Sonami . He also teaches sound and interdisciplinary art at the School of Art Institute of Chicago .
