Louis-Anne La Virotte

Louis-Anne La Virotte (* 1725 in Nolay ; † March 3, 1759 in Paris ) was a French doctor and encyclopaedist .

Live and act

He first studied medicine at the University of Montpellier . Then he went to the capital Paris and worked on the Journal des sçavans .

He was placed in the position of Docteur régent at the Faculté de médecine de Paris and was there for many years one of the eighteen royal censors, dix-huit censeurs royaux for natural history , medicine and chemistry. At the beginning of the Seven Years' War , in 1757, he joined the army of Westphalia, armée de Westphalie . In the following years he went to the Hôpital de la Charité . Melchior Grimm saw in him a person with a lot of knowledge and literary knowledge and was therefore a strong spirit with pleasant qualities for him.

For the Encyclopédie by Denis Diderot and Jean-Baptiste le Rond d'Alembert he wrote several articles on medical subjects.
