Louis Abadie 1850

Louis Jean Abadie (* 1814 - December 1, 1858 , also January 6, 1859 in Paris ) was a French composer.

Life

Abadie was known for his innumerable songs - chansonets, romances and ballads - which were very popular in the Parisian salons of the 19th century. He reached the height of his success in the years after 1848. Towards the end of the year he released albums with his songs, which were very well received. Despite the success of his songs, he searched in vain for a way to produce something for the theater. So he eventually fell into poverty. After a stroke , he died on December 1, 1858 in the Paris hospital l'hôpital de La Riboisière . The Bibliothèque nationale de France indicates on its data page January 6, 1859 as the date of death. He left three children.

reception

In the supplement to Deutsches Theater Archiv No. 18 of December 18, 1858, there is an obituary for Louis Abadie. Here he is described as the most popular melodist of the present , who probably has no rival in the field of romance . The celebrated singer is busy putting the finishing touches on his album from 1859, which is without doubt the best of those he has published.
