Louis Claude Noisette (born November 2, 1772 in Chatillon near Paris ; † January 9, 1849 ) was a French botanist and rose breeder who founded the category of Noisette roses , to which the variety 'Blush Noisette' belongs.

Louis Claude Noisette grew up as the son of a renowned garden architect at the time, who was in the service of the Count of Provence, the future Louis XVIII. the supervision of his domain was led by Brunoy . His father taught him and his brothers the art of horticulture at an early age.

After serving in the military between 1793 and 1795, he headed the botany school in Paris from 1795 in the Val de Grâce monastery in rue du Faubourg Saint-Jacques, which was desecrated during the Revolution and converted into a military hospital . There he made the acquaintance of his protector and later friend, the chief surgeon Barbier. In order to get the sick people moving and to accelerate their recovery, he wanted to create a green area and had the botany school closed for this purpose, so that Louis-Claude Noisette's tasks only focused on the greenhouses, an adjacent property and the maintenance of the garden of a college (now Collège Henri IV.). Towards the end of the 18th century, the Val-de-Grâce abandoned the gardener's position entirely in order to lease the land and the greenhouses. Noisette signed the contract, went into business successfully and was able to buy the property in the Faubourg Saint-Jacques in 1806.

There he grew almost all the remarkable plants that he could get hold of during the times of the lake barrier. Members of the Esterházy family also came there to select the trees for planting their extensive properties.
