history

Louis Gaertner's company was founded in 1912 by Sigmund Meyer together with the National Bank for Germany , the “Bremer Wagen- u. Carkörper-Werke GmbH ”was converted into Louis Gaertner AG . It can be seen as a subsidiary of the automobile manufacturer Hansa-Lloyd , because this company was the main shareholder and purchased all the bodies built by Gaertner. In 1927 it seemed more profitable to Hansa-Lloyd to manufacture the car bodies in-house and Louis Gaertner AG was dissolved. Carl Friedrich Wilhelm Borgward and his partner Wilhelm Tecklenborg acquired the company's real estate .
