Louis Goffin

Louis Alexandre Marie Goffin (born March 25, 1904 in Châtelet , † 1975 ) was a Belgian diplomat .

Life

Louis Goffin studied at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven until 1928 and entered the foreign service. In 1928 he was employed at the consulate in Bombay and in 1929 as a commercial attaché in New York City . In 1944 he was Counselor in Lisbon and in 1945 in Washington, DC , Commercial Attaché.

From 1947 to 1951 he was envoy to Moscow . From 1951 to 1955 he was envoy to Tehran . From May 7, 1955 to December 14, 1962 he was the first general secretary of the Western European Union .
