Louis Křikava

Louis Křikava (born December 12, 1873 in Přeštice , † July 3, 1920 in Prague ) was a Czech writer .

Life

After attending grammar school in Kutná Hora and Chrudim , Křikava began studying law at Charles University in Prague , but did not graduate. During this time he worked briefly as a trainee lawyer in a law firm in Hradec Králové .

In 1907 he settled in Prague and worked as a journalist, columnist and translator. He also published humorous works and poems. As a satirist and poet, he was influenced by Heine , Machar and Viktor Dyk .

Before the First World War , Křikava was a member of the Prague bohemian circle around the writer Jaroslav Hašek and was active in his parodistic party for moderate progress within the limits of the law . Křikava was the nephew of the then and eponymous Prague police director, which was often pointed out at party meetings for personal security.
