Louis Nicolas Clement de Ris

Louis Nicolas Clément de Ris (born September 23, 1714 in Langres , † July 1786 in Paris ) was a French lawyer , public prosecutor and civil servant in various administrative functions of the Ancien Régime .

His father was Louis Nicolas Clément de Malleran († 1763), a citizen of Langres and secrétaire du roi , capitaine centenier . In 1737 he became a lawyer at the Paris Parlement , avocat au Parlement de Paris and Secretary General of the King, conseiller secrétaire du roi . His mother Marie-Marguerite Frécart (1687–1773). The couple had three children and Louis Clément de Ris with a brother François Nicolas Clément de La Roncière and a sister Julienne Clément de La Roncière (approx. 1715–1786), lady de Saint-Marcellin.

Louis Nicolas Clément de Ris married Marie-Jeanne Auvray de La Tour (1712–1773). He too was initially a lawyer at the Paris Parlement, Avocat en parlement and later, from 1739, a public prosecutor, procureur au parlement de Paris . From January 29, 1782, he took over the functions of an official conseiller secrétaire du Roi maison couronne de France and an advisor and secretary for finances in the King's Chancellery , finances en la chancellerie de Paris . The couple Clément de Ris had a son, Dominique Clément de Ris (1750-1827).

De Ris died in 1786 on rue du Four Saint Honoré in Paris.

Denis Diderot, who also came from Langres, worked for him as a legal assistant from 1736; however, he gave up this position in 1737.
