Louis Quentin

Louis Quentin (born August 17, 1847 in Detmold ; † February 22, 1929 there ) was Lord Mayor of Herford .

Life

Quentin was the son of a court pharmacist and medical advisor in Detmold. He began to study law at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg and became active in the Corps Vandalia Heidelberg in 1867 . As an inactive he moved to the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität zu Berlin .

In 1869 he returned to his hometown Detmold as an auditor . He took part in the French campaign as a reserve lieutenant in the 55th Infantry Regiment . After the assessor examination (1873) he settled as a lawyer in Lage (Lippe) . In 1874 he became second mayor in Bochum , in 1875 first mayor and in 1902 lord mayor in Herford. In 1895 he was elected in a replacement election for the resigned MP Baron von Hammerstein for the constituency of Minden 2 (Herford-Halle) in the Reichstag , which belonged until 1907. In 1908 he retired as a Privy Councilor .
