Louis-Sébastien Grundler
Louis-Sébastien Grundler (born July 20, 1774 in Paris , † September 27, 1833 in Troyes ) was a French cabinet maker and général de division .
Life
Grundler's family has its origins in Bavaria ; his parents were Jean-François Grundler and Marie-Marguerite Hoquet. His father was a respected cabinet maker , in whose studio in Saint-Antoine near Paris Grundler also learned this trade.
On September 7, 1792 Grundler joined the army and quickly made a career there. He took under the command of General François Ignace Ervoil d'Oyré at the siege of Mainz in part, and slew of General Jean-Baptiste Kléber to the Vendée down. In the battle of Stockach (March 25, 1799) there was shooting and since then he has had a noticeable scar on his face.
Grundler fought at Austerlitz (December 2, 1805) and Jena (October 14, 1806) and took part in the siege of Stralsund in August 1807 .
After the Peace of Tilsit (July 7/9, 1807) Grundler returned to France. After some military-administrative tasks, Napoleon promoted him and with a new command, Grundler took part in the Russian campaign under Marshals Charles Nicolas Oudinot and Laurent de Gouvion Saint-Cyr . He could u. a. on the Beresina (November 26-28, 1812) distinguished by bravery, but was seriously wounded.
After his recovery, Grundler came to Marshal Jacques MacDonald and fought near Großgörschen (May 2, 1813) and Bautzen (May 20/21, 1813).
After Napoleon's abdication on April 12, 1814, Grundler immediately joined King Louis XVIII. on. When Napoleon left the island of Elba and his " rule of the hundred days " began, he became the emperor's follower again. After the Battle of Waterloo (June 18, 1815) Grundler supported the Bourbons again .
1823 he was commissioned by King Charles X of the honorary title of Lieutenant-général awarded.
General Louis-Sebastien Grundler died at the age of 59 on September 27, 1833 in Paris, where he found his final resting place.
