Economic building

The economic building at Louise-Gueury-Straße 396 is in the Hardter Wald district in Mönchengladbach ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).

The building was built in 1919. It was entered under no. L 030 on September 7, 1988 in the monuments list of the city of Mönchengladbach .

location

The choice of the building site for the municipal lung sanatorium required precise planning due to the special requirements. A suitable site was found about five kilometers west of the city center, in the Hardter Forest , where a total of four larger buildings were erected. Sanatorium with administration building, welfare center for lung patients, forest recreation center and forest school.

The economy belongs to the Louise Gueury Foundation and is located north of the clinic building in the forest area by the former Landwehr .

architecture

The complex, which is closed on three sides, is built in different construction phases and consists of a barn , stables and utility rooms . The oldest building in the whitewashed brick and partially half-timbered construction is the barn. The eaves- standing building with a gable roof that is flattened towards the eaves by means of slings is opened in the middle by an arched entrance. Both barn doors are original, as is the purlin roof structure secured by struts . An elongated stable building, built in 1939, with twelve window axes . A gabled house offset by two axes into the courtyard (formerly a feed kitchen and horse stable) connects to the stable building with its eaves.

Worth preserving as an agricultural area belonging to the clinic ensemble, which exemplarily documents the self-sufficiency that was previously aimed for.
