Louise de Prie de La Mothe-Houdancourt , Marquise of Toucy, Duchess of Cardona (around 1624 - 6 January 1709 in Versailles ) was the governess of the children of King Louis XIV from 1661 to 1672 and of the children of King Louis XIV from 1682 to 1691 Dauphins .

Life

Louise de Prie was the second daughter and heiress of the Marquis of Toucy, Louis de Prie, and Françoise de Saint-Gelais-Lusignan. She married Marshal Philippe de La Mothe-Houdancourt , Duke of Cardona, in Saint-Brie-en-Auxerrois on November 22, 1650 , who died in 1657. The marriage produced a daughter, Françoise-Angélique (1650-1711), who on November 27, 1669 married the Duke Louis-Marie-Victor of Aumont. Louise de Prie signed her daughter's marriage contract with "Louise de Prye, mareschalle de La Motte".

In 1661 she was appointed educator of the royal princes, the Dauphin (Duke of Burgundy) and the Duke of Anjou by Louis XIV , and in 1682 the educator of the Dauphin's children. She fulfilled this task until 1672 or 1691.

The Marshaless of La Mothe died on January 6, 1709 in Versailles, as it is called at the age of 85, from which the year of birth 1624 is calculated.
