organization

The first Lousberglauf registered with the city of Aachen took place in 1985. The organizers were originally the student dormitories "Die Türme" on Lousberg. Since 1990 it has been organized in cooperation between the towers, the university sports center of the Aachen universities and the student sports department. Since then, the number of participants has grown from an original 67 to almost 2000. Compared to the beginning, the event has become highly professional. Sponsors such as Stadtwerke Aachen were found , which is why the name is officially “ Lousberglauf powered by Stawag ”.

Start and finish are in front of the sports field of the student dormitories “Die Türme” on Rütscher Straße. The number of participants is limited to 2000. Hamid Maaziz has held the course record for male starters since 2012 with 16: 42.6 min. In 2011 Veronica Pohl set the record for women with 19:13 minutes. The run is part of the NRW-Uni-Laufcup with an individual and group rating.

In 2020 the run did not take place due to the COVID-19 pandemic .
