Mussa Hudrog (born January 1, 1984 ) is a German-Lebanese long-distance runner .

Career

As a child, Mussa Hudrog and his family were the youngest of 14 siblings who fled the Lebanese civil war to Germany and grew up in Münsterland near the Dutch border. In his youth he played soccer at Alemannia Aachen , KAS Eupen , Roda Kerkrade and most recently at the Aachen sports club Borussia Brand , but was unable to assert himself anywhere and ultimately did not continue his career from the A-youth due to a lack of financial resources from his parents.

At the age of 15, Mussa Hudrog ran the Lousberglauf as his first competition. It then took six years before he again took part in a running competition, the Aachen New Year's Eve run. At the age of 21, he was invited by the athletics director of the Aachen TG , Günter Drießen, to take part in club running training after he had achieved third place. Under the coach Wolfgang Glöde, Mussa Hudrog developed into one of the best long-distance runners in West Germany.

By winning the Lebanese Cross Country Championships 2017, held on February 26, 2017 in Beirut over a length of 11,600 meters, Mussa Hudrog was the only male to qualify despite a cold that he had previously caught at the training camp in Iten ( Kenya ) Starter Lebanon for the 2017 World Cross Country Championships in Kampala , Uganda . There he reached the 124th place out of 136 finishers on March 26, 2017, with 146 participants. The German Athletics Association did not send any German starters to the World Cross Country Championships in Uganda.

Since February 2012, Mussa Hudrog has been running a café with his partner in Aachen near Kaiser-Friedrich-Park, along with other restaurants . Before that he worked for seven years in a cocktail bar in Aachen's Pontstrasse . Due to the lack of time after taking over the café, there was a one and a half year break from running. Mussa Hudrog is married and lives with his three children in Aachen. It took 24 years and an additional 3 years before the administrative court against the Aachen immigration authorities until Mussa Hudrog received German citizenship. He has both Lebanese and German citizenship.
