Alster course
The Alsterlauf (official name Internationaler Alsterlauf , until 2008 Internationaler PSD-Bank Alsterlauf after the title sponsor, PSD Bank Nord ) is a people and street run over 10 km in Hamburg , which has been held since 1990. It usually takes place in late August or early September (exceptionally in mid-September 2008) and is the third largest 10-kilometer run in Germany after the Munich City Run and the Berlin City Night . The Hamburg championships of the HLV and the German university championships of the adh in the 10 km road run are regularly held as part of the Alster run. The program also includes a 1.2 km school run. The Alsterlauf should not be confused with the Alster relay , which has been held since 1909 and in which numerous teams of different age groups from Hamburg sports clubs take part.
route
The route leads through downtown Hamburg , is flat except for a few inclines at the Alsterbrücken and Glockengießerwall, paved throughout and precisely measured according to the IAAF guidelines .
Because of the large number of participants, there is a dual start from Mönckebergstraße and Steinstraße . The runners circle the Outer Alster in a counter-clockwise direction. The destination is currently (2009) on Ballindamm .
history
The run was held for the first time in 1990 as part of the Alster fun . On the initiative of the television presenter Carlheinz Hollmann , three athletes from Hamburger SV (Michael Barkowski, Detlev Matzen and Karsten Schölermann) founded a civil law company ( BMS Sportveranstaltungs GbR ), which still organizes the event today.
In 2007 the run took place independently for the first time without being linked to the pleasure of the Alster.
In 2016, the Alsterlauf hosted the German Road Running Championships 10 km 2016 . German champions were Florian Orth (28:59 min; LG Telis Finanz Regensburg ) and the Ethiopian Melat Yisak Kejeta (33:19 min; PSV Grün-Weiß Kassel ) .
The Alsterlauf is one of three races for the Laufcup Hamburg , which has been held since 2000. The other races are the Airport Race (10 miles ) and the fun run through the beautiful Alstertal ( half marathon ). All three runs take place between the end of August and the end of September.
