The Berlin City Night (currently the official name adidas Runners City Night ) is a people's and street run in Berlin that has been held since 1992 . The running event is one of the most important 10 km running competitions in Germany and usually takes place at the end of July. The running event is organized by SCC EVENTS GmbH . Components of the event are the 10 km race for inline skaters, the 5 km race for runners and the final 10 km race for runners and wheelchair users.

route

The route leads through downtown Berlin along Kurfürstendamm . The start and finish point is traditionally at the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church . The route is flat and paved throughout.

history

On August 15, 1992, the 1st City Night took place on Kurfürstendamm with 645 runners. Since then, this run has been held in the same place every year. In 1998 the route was changed at short notice and was only 9.478 km. In 2013, due to the expected high temperatures, only a 5 km run was carried out without timing. In 2018, due to a severe weather warning, the skater race was shortened and the runs completely canceled. The number of participants has been between 6,000 and 10,000 runners since 2001.

Others

In 2009, the organizer, SCC, donated one euro each of the contributions from the 9,158 participants for the renovation of the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church. The title sponsor Vattenfall doubled this amount and rounded the amount up. In this way, 20,000 euros were made available for the renovation of the tower clock.
