Sylvia Renz (athlete)

Sylvia Renz (born June 6, 1969 in Leipzig ) is a former German long-distance runner who has specialized in the marathon .

In 1989 she was GDR runner-up in her first marathon. In 1991 and 1995 she came second in the Greifensee run and in 1994 second in the Bern Grand Prix . The first time she stayed under 2:40 hours in 1994, she finished tenth at the Rotterdam Marathon ; in the same year she won the Helsinki Marathon . In 1997 she was fifth in the Cologne Marathon . In the following year she took the same place at the Hamburg Marathon and represented Germany twice in international competitions: At the European Championships in Budapest , she took 15th place and at the Half Marathon World Championships in Uster, 30th place in her personal best of 1:12 : 44 h. In autumn she was fourth overall German runner-up in the Frankfurt Marathon in her personal best of 2:33:17 h. In 1999 she was German runner-up in the half marathon and sixth in the Hamburg marathon.

In 2002 she came second in the Leipzig Marathon . In the following year she was third in the German championships in the 10,000 meter run , as the winner of the Duisburg Marathon German marathon champion and fifth in the Venice marathon . In 2004 she won the Dresden Marathon . She finished her competitive sports career in 2005 with a second place in the Baden Marathon .

The 1.63 m tall and 45 kg heavy athlete is a physiotherapist by profession and has lived in Berlin since 1995 . She has been working for the OSC Berlin since 1999 .
