The Hamburger Leichtathletikverband eV ( short : HLV or HHLV ) is one of the 20 regional associations in the DLV ( German Athletics Association ) and is responsible for the federal state of Hamburg and some of the surrounding communities.
Organization / structure
The area of the HLV is not, as with most of the other DLV regional associations, divided into districts and districts. Therefore, the only championships held are state championships. Regional athletes from Hamburg also take part in the North German championships. The HLV organizes up to and including 2007 a. the Hamburg Marathon , whose event organizer (“Race Director”) Wolfram Götz also held the post of managing director of the HLV office until August 2007. For 2008–2012, the HLV assigned the event rights to the agency act agency GmbH.
As of October 31, 2009, 64 clubs with an athletics division were members of the HLV and thus, indirectly, 6091 club members (2007: 6381). This includes the 562 athletes from the LG Wedel-Pinneberg who switched from the Schleswig-Holstein to the Hamburg Athletics Association at the turn of the year 2007.
According to the association, the association's annual budget in 2003 was around 2 million euros for the Hamburg Marathon. The budget for other activities was 180,000 euros in 2006 and 230,000 euros in 2007. For 2008 to 2012, along with the rights, the budget of the Hamburg Marathon was also awarded to the event agency Act Agency GmbH, which will increase the association's budget to around 450,000 euros per year with an annual license payment of 250,000 euros.
Development / history
The Hamburg Athletics Association was founded in 1911 as the Hamburg Association for Athletics (HVfL) (entry in the register of associations on January 12, 1967). Since the 1980s, the Hamburg Athletics Association has been more severely affected than other state associations by a decline in the number of members in organized club athletics and the emigration of top athletes (e.g. Ingo Schultz ). The construction of a Hamburg athletics hall , which had been planned since the end of the 1950s, represented a curiosity in Hamburg's sports policy for decades, despite several laying of the foundation stones (most recently in 2003). The athletics hall was inaugurated on November 29, 2006.
