The Württemberg Athletics Association e. V. ( WLV ) is the union of the Württemberg State Sports Association merged (WLSB) and Athletics driving clubs and regional association in the German Athletics Association (DLV). It was founded on January 21, 1951; the entry in the register of associations took place on July 5, 1954. In 2008, it represented 110,029 members in 878 associations.

The WLV works with and through its member clubs for the promotion, dissemination and lifelong practice of athletics. He supports the interests of athletics at all levels, from school and popular sports to competitive and competitive sports. The WLV tried to prevent the reconstruction of the Mercedes-Benz Arena with the “Yes to the track” campaign in order to enable competitive sports in Stuttgart to continue. Every year the WLV organizes the Stuttgart Run , one of the largest fun runs in Germany, together with the city of Stuttgart .

As a professional association for athletics in Württemberg, the WLV is the contact person for its members, for the municipalities and the state government, especially in matters of sports facility construction, sports funding and school sports.

Together with the Baden Athletics Association , the WLV acts as a Baden-Württemberg working group. There are currently collaborations in the field of competitive sports, participation in international fights and teaching. Cooperations in other areas are planned for the future.

On April 14, 2018, the WLV decided at its association day in Winnenden with an amendment to the statutes as the first regional association in the DLV to move away from the usual presidential system towards a supervisory board model in order to give itself a modern association management.
