The PSV GW Kassel ( Police Sports Club Grün-Weiß Kassel eV ) is a sports club founded in 1921 in the north Hessian city ​​of Kassel . Today around 1200 members, including more than half children and young people, are active in eight departments in the association.

history

When the club was founded in 1921, the aim was to give police officers the opportunity to compete with other sports clubs. Furthermore, the aim of the establishment was to remove competitive sports from the official area.

During the National Socialism , the club was renamed the Sports Association of the Ordnungspolizei (SpGO) in 1938 . After the end of the Second World War , the allied victorious powers dissolved the company sports clubs and the sports community of the Ordnungspolizei in the German Reich .

No re-establishment was possible during the occupation . Only the establishment of the Federal Republic of Germany made the re-establishment possible. The re-establishment meeting was on October 14, 1949. Due to legal restrictions, the club had to be registered as a sports club Grün-Weiß Kassel eV . From May 11, 1971, the addition police became possible again, and the club was renamed Polizeisportverein Grün-Weiß Kassel eV

Events

Most of the PSV Grün-Weiß Kassel events take place in the Kassel Auestadion . Among them were the predecessors of the Askina sports festival . After they have been discontinued, the PSV meetings fill this gap. Furthermore, z. B. the Herkules-Berglauf , the Kasseler Citylauf and the Kassel-Marathon organized by PSV, with Winfried Aufenanger as head of organization, like at the 2013 revived sports meeting of the PSV.

The table tennis team played in the 1950s in the men's upper league , which was the highest German division at the time. In 1960 she was relegated.
