Jürgen Stephan

Jürgen "Steppke" Stephan (* 1952 in Kassel ) is a German athletics trainer .

Since the 1970s, Jürgen Stephan has led several medium and long-distance runners to the top of the national league. Stephan was club trainer at LG ACT Kassel-Baunatal and PSV Grün-Weiß Kassel , as well as 25 years of Hessian association trainer and 8 years of DLV national trainer for the U 18 age group in the long haul / road area.

The athletes he trained include and included Anna and Lisa Hahner , Julian Flügel and Philipp Baar and, since 2018, runner and musician Maik Wollherr, as well as other athletes who are successful at both regional and international level such as Martin Strege, Christiane Bohn, Birka Wicke, Heiko Baier, Markus and Matthias Jahn or Johannes Wennmacher. Jürgen Stephan was a middle-distance runner himself during his active days.

He has been married to the former German long-distance runner Angelika Stephan since 1972 . Jürgen Stephan was honored for his successful youth work in 2003 by the Leichtathletik-Förderverein Hessen eV (LFH), and in 2008 he was named “Trainer of the Year” by the German Road Races interest group .

Jürgen Stephan lives in Vellmar and studied at the University of Fulda .
