Kristina Ziemons (born April 7, 1984 in Aachen ) is a German triathlete and duathlete . In the duathlon she was German champion several times (2016–2018) and once European champion in her age group. She starts for the first women's team of the DLC Aachen .

Career

Ziemons grew up in a sporty family in Aachen-Brand and began her activities as a hobby runner. As a student at the Einhardgymnasium , where she passed her Abitur, she first joined the running departments of the Aachen TG and later the Alemannia Aachen . As a runner, she won the 16.5 km distance at the Rursee Marathon for the seventh time in November 2016 , setting a new course record. Ziemons was not only the winner of the women at the Bremen Marathon in 2019 , but also the German police champion over this distance.

After triathlon had become her new passion and the triathlon teams were reorganized in the DLC Aachen at the beginning of the 2010s , Ziemons switched to the triathlon department of this club and quickly made contact with the first women's team. With the DLC Aachen , she was promoted to the First Triathlon Bundesliga in the 2016 season , but could not prevent relegation at the end of the season to the Second Triathlon Bundesliga, in which she has been fighting for promotion since then.

As a late starter and career changer in this all-around sport, swimming is not her strongest discipline, which is why Ziemons achieved her greatest successes so far in the duathlon, where swimming is no longer necessary. This was already evident during a long stay abroad in France , where she joined the “Metz Triathlon” association. For this she was able to achieve the title of French champion and victory in the French Duathlon Cup of the 1st division with the duathlon team in the 2015/2016 season.

Ironman Hawaii 2014

In July 2014, Ziemons was able to qualify for a starting place at the Ironman Hawaii with eighth place in the Ironman Switzerland (3.86 km swimming, 180.2 km cycling and 42.195 km running) on the long distance triathlon . There she finally reached 927th place overall and 22nd place in the age group 30-34.

In 2016 she won the duathlon title of age group champion in the age group 30-34 at the European championships on the short distance.

German champion Duathlon 2016, 2017 and 2018

Ziemons became German champion on the short distance (10-40-5) three times in a row in the duathlon in 2016, 2017 and 2018. In 2017 she also became German champion in the long distance duathlon (20-80-10).
