Lovering Island is a small, round island in Prydz Bay on the Ingrid Christensen Coast of Princess Elisabeth Land in East Antarctica . It is located 3.7 km northwest of the Law Racoviță station in the Larsemann Hills area .
The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia named it in 1988 after the Australian geologist John Francis Lovering (* 1930), Vice President of Flinders University and Chairman of the Antarctic Science Advisory Committee in the Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities from 1985 to 1990 .
