Coordinates: 34 ° 20 ′ S , 135 ° 30 ′ E The District Council of Lower Eyre Peninsula is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of South Australia . The area is 4,771 km² and has about 5500 inhabitants (2016).
Lower Eyre Peninsula is located on the southwest tip of the Eyre Peninsula and is about 270 km as the crow flies northwest of the metropolis of Adelaide . The area includes 39 hamlets and towns: Big Swamp, Boston, Brimpton Lake, Charlton Gully, Coffin Bay , Coomunga, Coulta, Cummins, Edillilie, Flinders, Green Patch, Kapinnie, Karkoo, Kiana, Lake Wangary, Lincoln, Little Swamp, Louth , Louth Bay, Mitchell, Mortlock, Mount Drummond, Mount Dutton Bay, Mount Hope, North Shields , Poonindie, Proper Bay, Shannon, Sleaford, Sleaford Bay, Stamford, Tod River (reservoir), Tulka, Uley, Ulipa, Wangary, Wanilla , Warrow, White Flat and Yeelanna. The administrative headquarters of the council is in Cummins in the northeast of the LGA, where about 725 residents live (2016).

The Lower Eyre Peninsula Council has seven members, the six councilors and the chairman and mayor of the council are elected by the residents of the LGA. Lower Eyre Peninsula is not divided into districts.
