Luafatu

Luafatu is a small uninhabited island in the Tongan archipelago of Vavaʻu .

geography

Luafatu forms the extension of the Matahunga headland from Hunga , which comes up to about 2 km from Cape Fata (Longomapu) from Vavaʻu. In the canal, besides Luafatu, there is also Tu'ungasika on the Vava'u side. On the island, the Faihava Passage runs to the Ava Pulepulekai Canal, which leads far into the center of the archipelago and into the center of the main island.

climate

The climate is tropical hot, but is tempered by constantly blowing winds. Like the other islands of the Vava'u group, Luafatu is occasionally hit by cyclones .
