Luana DeVol

Luana DeVol , also Luana De Vol (born November 30, 1942 in San Mateo , California) is an American opera singer ( soprano ).

Life

Luana DeVol started out in church and college choirs. She was later a member of the San Francisco Opera Choir . After further vocal studies at the United States University in San Diego and with the tenor Jess Thomas , among others , she appeared as a soloist. She sang at the San Francisco Opera, in Seattle and in Stuttgart. From 1983 to 1986 she was engaged at the Stadttheater Aachen. In 1986 she became a member of the Mannheim National Theater . From here an international career developed with appearances in Berlin, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Munich, Bologna, Milan, Paris, Zurich, Vienna as well as at the Bayreuth Festival and the Salzburg Festival . Her repertoire mainly includes highly dramatic soprano roles in the operas of Richard Wagner and Richard Strauss . In 1997 and 2000, Luana DeVol was singer of the year in the yearbook of Opernwelt magazine.
