Lubna bint Khalid bin Sultan al-Qasimi ( Arabic لبنى بنت خالد بن سلطان القاسمي, DMG Lubnā bt. Ḫālid b. Sulṭān al-Qāsimī ; * February 4, 1962 in Dubai ) is a politician from the United Arab Emirates .

Life

Qasimi studied computer science at California State University in Chico and graduated with a Masters of Business Administration from the American University of Sharjah . In 2004, Qasimi became Minister of Foreign Trade, making her the first woman ever to become a cabinet member in the Arab Emirates. She is the niece of the ruler of the Emirate of Sharjah , Sultan bin Mohamed al-Qasimi .

In 2014, she was named President of Zayed University and ranked 55th on Forbes' list of the 100 Most Powerful Women in the World , then 42nd in 2015.
