Lucas Monteverde

Lucas Monteverde (born December 18, 1976 ) is an Argentine professional polo player who achieved a handicap of 9 in Argentina . In 2017 it was ranked 20th in the world.

Life

Lucas Monteverde grew up near the city of 25 de Mayo (Province of Buenos Aires) on the Estancia El Rincón . The farm was run by his father Lucas and uncle Marcelo Monteverde, a successful coach in the sport of polo. He is married to the Argentine model Loli Lopez and has two children (Lucas and Lola).

Monteverde has been playing polo since childhood and became a professional player when he reached a handicap of 5. He played for teams like La Martina and Ellerstina, among others. In Argentina he played for La Dolfina Polo Team from 2005 to 2010 .

Monteverde's first Grand Slam win was the 2005 Veuve Clicquot Cowdray Park Gold Cup, where he replaced the injured Adolfo Cambiaso . He has also won the Hurlingham Open , the Deauville Gold Cup and the Sotogrande Gold Cup, among other tournaments.

In 2000 he played for the first time at the Argentine Open . In 2005, 2006 and 2007 he won the tournament with La Dolfina. In 2007, the team won with a so-called "golden goal" in extra time, scored by Monteverde. He was then upgraded to handicap 10, making La Dolfina the team with a perfect team handicap of 40.

In 2014 he played with the Alegria team with a handicap of +9.
