Luciano Armani

Luciano Armani (born October 12, 1940 in Felegara ) is a former Italian cyclist .

Athletic career

As an amateur , he won several national races and came second in the small Tour of Lombardy ( Piccolo Giro di Lombardia ). Armani was a professional driver from 1965 to 1972 . He had his first contract with the Bianchi-Mobylette team , in which, among others, Dino Zandegu drove. In his first year as a professional in 1965 he was able to win the Coppa Sabatini and a stage of the Giro d'Italia , a year later he won a stage near Paris-Nice . In 1967 he won the Tour of Sardinia and the Coppa Placci . In 1969 he won the most important one with Lisbon-PortoOne-day race in Portugal . In 1970 he was able to win another Giro stage and the Milan – Turin race. In 1968 he had his best result in the Giro with the 22nd place in a total of six participations. In his second start in the Tour de France , he won the 12th stage in 1971, ahead of Eddy Merckx . He finished the tour as 66.
