Lucidity is a Finnish progressive melodic death and doom band from Jyväskylä , which was founded in 2004.
history
The band was founded in late 2004 by the singer, guitarist and keyboardist Martti Pohjosaho, the guitarist Jari Kinnunen, the bassist Harri Pölkki and the drummer Pekka Parantainen. Initially, they played cover versions as well as previously unused material from their previous bands. In 2006 the demo Endure was recorded, which allowed the group to increase its popularity. The following year, under the name Awaken , another demo followed, which was the group's first recordings with keyboard. The content of the demo continued the concept story of the previous demo. Songs from the demo were played by two national radio stations. The next demo followed in 2009 with the title Relic . In the following time the band had problems getting together for rehearsals. Harri Pölkki then left the cast. The band initially continued their activity as a trio. After a few rehearsals, bassist Sami Ahmaoja joined them. In 2015 the debut album The Oblivion Circle was released via Inverse Records .
style
According to Steven Reid of seaoftranquility.org , The Oblivion Circle's music is melancholy , describing the music as progressive doom metal . Similarities to Insomnium and Opeth can be heard in the songs . The vocals range from deep singing in the style of a gloomy Roy Khan (ex- Kamelot ) to growling and rough shouting .
