Building

Entrance pavilion

The station, designed by the architects David, Boulva & Cleve , stands out due to the extraordinarily high height of the walls and the vaulted ceiling. A central light shaft enables a direct line of sight from the simple entrance pavilion on the surface down to the distribution level . The wall cladding made of brown bricks creates a warm shade and creates a connection to the platform level. This is 27.1 meters deep and has two side platforms . This makes Lucien-L'Allier the third-lowest station on the Montreal Metro. The distances to the neighboring stations, measured from station end to station start, are 530.60 meters to Georges-Vanier and 381.60 meters to Bonaventure .

There are connections to four bus routes operated by the Société de transport de Montréal . Several suburban railway lines run by the Agence métropolitaine de transport operate from the nearby Lucien-L'Allier train station . The Lucien-L'Allier metro station is integrated into the vast Montreal underground city . In addition to the train station, the Center Bell ice hockey stadium , the former main train station Gare Windsor , the 1250 René-Lévesque skyscraper and the Bonaventure metro station are all within walking distance .

history

The station opened on April 28, 1980, along with the section between Bonaventure and Place-Saint-Henri . The station is named after Rue Lucien-L'Allier. This was formerly called Rue de l'Aqueduc and was renamed in honor of Lucien L'Allier (1909–1978), chief engineer of the metro network and the Expo 67 world exhibition . L'Allier died while the station was under construction; a plaque commemorates him. During the planning phase, the station was called Aqueduc .
