Lucius Iulius Ursus
Lucius Iulius Ursus was a Roman politician, senator, and three-time suffect consul .
Iulius Ursus probably came from the province of Gallia Narbonensis . In a year unknown he was praefectus annonae ; under Domitian he became prefectus Aegypti and probably Praetorian prefect . Despite the temporary threat to life from Domitian, Iulius Ursus was co-opted into the Senate. In 84 he held his first consulate, which he probably owed to Titus ' daughter Julia , with whom he was in contact. In March 98 he and Trajan became consul for the second time. Iulius Ursus had a major influence on the adoption of Trajan by Nerva . Trajan thanked him for this with a third consulate in 100, again with the emperor as a colleague.
Iulius Ursus adopted Lucius Iulius Ursus Servianus around 102 , who also became consul three times.
