Lucius Valerius Flaccus (Praetor 63 BC)

Lucius Valerius Flaccus († after 56 BC) was a politician of the late Roman Republic .

Flaccus served in Asia under his father of the same name , but fled to his uncle Gaius Valerius Flaccus in Gaul , where he lived in 82 or 81 BC. Was probably a military tribune . 78-76 BC He served in the same function in Cilicia under Publius Servilius Vatia . 71 BC He was quaestor in Spain under Marcus Pupius Piso , in the following year he was probably still a proquaestor , 68/67 BC. BC Legate of Caecilius Metellus on Crete , then perhaps in the same function with Pompey . As the city praetor he was on the side of Cicero in the conspiracy of Catiline . 62 BC He was the governor of Asia as Proprätor, 60 BC. One of three envoys to Gallic tribes. 59 BC He was charged with blackmail, but successfully defended by Cicero in a speech. Flaccus was 57/56 BC Chr. Legate of Lucius Calpurnius Piso Caesoninus in Macedonia and seems to have died a little later.
