The Luckower See is located northwest of the town of Sternberg in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . The almost circular lake has an extension of about 700 meters in the north-south axis and about 1000 meters in the west-east axis. In the eastern part there is a prominent peninsula. There is a camping site on the south bank of the lake and the federal road 192 and the Wismar – Karow railway line pass the lake. Almost the entire lakeshore is lined with a belt of reeds. In 1974 a campsite for 1000 vacationers was built on Luckower See.
