Lucrezia di Cosimo de 'Medici
Lucrezia di Cosimo de 'Medici (born February 14 or June 7, 1545 in Florence , † April 21, 1561 in Ferrara ) was the fifth child and the third daughter of Grand Duke Cosimo I from the Medici and Eleonora family of Toledo . She was married in June 1558 by procurationem to the Duke of Mòdena and Ferrara Alfonso II d'Este , but only moved to Ferrara two years later. The marriage remained childless. Her sudden death at the age of only 16 also fueled rumors that she had been poisoned by her husband.
She is the Duchess of Ferrare described by Robert Browning in My Last Duchess .
