Lucy Alibar

Lucy Alibar (born Lucy Harrison ) is an American screenwriter who was nominated for an Oscar in 2013 .

life and career

Lucy Alibar grew up in Florida with her two brothers, her father Baya M. Harrison III, a criminal defense attorney , and her mother Barbara, an artist . She is a fan of Dolly Parton , Tony Kushner , Flannery O'Connor, and horror films . At the age of 14 she won a writing contest in Manhattan , where she met Benh Zeitlin . In 2001 she moved to New York and studied screenwriting at New York University . At the age of 18, she changed her last name to Alibar, a combination of her mother's first names and her mother Alice.

Alibar received an Oscar nomination in the Best Adapted Screenplay category at the 85th Academy Awards for the film adaptation of her play Beasts of the Southern Wild , along with Benh Zeitlin .
