Lucy Walker (* in London ) is a British documentary filmmaker and film producer .

Life

Lucy Walker grew up in London and began directing plays during her school days. This led them as a student at New College of Oxford University continued, taking literature studied. After graduating in 1992, she entered the Fulbright Program and attended New York University's Tisch School of Arts , which she completed with a Master of Fine Arts degree.

Walker is known for her four documentaries Devil's Playground , Blindsight , Waste Land and Countdown to Zero , as well as her short documentary The Tsunami and the Cherry Blossom . She won a total of 27 awards for her films and was nominated 14 times. In 2011 she received an Oscar nomination for Waste Land in the category Best Documentary , and Walker's short documentary The Tsunami and the Cherry Blossom also received an Oscar nomination in the category Best Documentary Short in 2012 .
