Ludmil Katzarkov

Ludmil Vassilev Katzarkov ( Bulgarian Людмил Василев Кацарков ; born December 19, 1961 in Russe , Bulgaria ) is a Bulgarian mathematician . He is Professor of Algebraic Geometry and Differential Geometry at the Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Vienna .

Katzarkov studied mathematics at Moscow State University in Moscow and the University of Pennsylvania , where he in 1995 Ron Donagi on factorization theorem for the Representations of the fundamental Groups of Quasiprojective Varieties and Some Applications doctorate was. He was then a professor at the University of California, Irvine until 2004 and at the University of Miami from 2004 to 2007 . By April 2007 he was sent to the University of Vienna appointed .

His areas of specialization are algebraic geometry , symplectic geometry , mathematical aspects of string theory , homological mirror symmetry and the categorical treatment of geometric questions.

In 2008, Katzarkov received an ERC Advanced Investigators Grant from the European Research Council (ERC) . From 1998 to 2000 he was a Sloan Research Fellow .
