Ludmila Thomas

Ludmila Thomas (born November 17, 1934 in Kemerovo ) is a Russian-born German historian .

Life

Ludmila Thomas studied history at the Zhdanov University in Leningrad . After she moved to the GDR , she became a research assistant at the Institute for Social Sciences at the Central Committee of the SED in Berlin . The doctorate took place in December 1964 with Heinz Heitzer and Werner Paff . The dissertation dealt with the establishment of diplomatic relations between the USSR and the German Federal Republic in 1955 . Later (at least between 1968 and 1978) she was a research assistant at the Institute for History at the German Academy of Sciences and senior research assistant at the Central Institute for History at the Academy of Sciences of the GDR . The PhD B took place in June 1990 with the thesis Power Struggles and Reforms in Russia. The example of the merchant fleet (1856–1914) . In the course of the reorganization of the Humboldt University in Berlin , Thomas became professor for the history of Eastern Europe in 1992. Since 1994 she has been on the editorial board of the Zeitschrift für Geschichtswwissenschaft . In 2000 Thomas retired.
