Ludolf von Oldenburg-Bruchhausen

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ludolf Graf von Oldenburg-Bruchhausen , also Ludolf von Oldenburg-Wildeshausen and Bruchhausen (* before 1241 ; † 1278 ) was from 1241 Count of Bruchhausen and from around 1259 Count of Altbruchhausen. He came from the Wildeshausener branch of the House of Oldenburg .

Life

His parents were Heinrich III, who died in the Stedinger War in 1234 . von Oldenburg-Wildeshausen (* before 1197; † May 27, 1234) and Ermtrud (also Ermintrudis) von Schoten-Breda (de Schodis) , daughter of Count Heinrich II. von Breda.

As long as Ludolf and his older brother Heinrich (* before 1232; † after 1270) were minors, their cousin, Heinrich IV. Von Oldenburg-Wildeshausen (the Bogener) , obviously acted as their guardian.

In 1241 Ludolf and Heinrich first documented it independently. The brothers concentrated on exercising their rights of property and rule in the county of Bruchhausen. This was between 1220 and 1233, apparently 1227 or 1228, by the brothers Heinrich III. and Burchard von Oldenburg-Wildeshausen († 1233) was transferred to the Archbishop of Bremen Gerhard II and was subsequently received back as a fief . Although Heinrich was the oldest descendant of Heinrich III. was, he performed his rulership functions largely together with the younger Ludolf. For a long time they lived together in Altbruchhausen Castle and in 1257 issued a document stating "in Castro nostro Brochusen". Around 1259 the rule was then divided between the brothers. Heinrich became Count of Neubruchhausen , Ludolf received Altbruchhausen. Around 1260 Heinrich moved accordingly to the Neubruchhausen Castle that he had built.

Although Ludolf himself came from the House of Oldenburg, around 1270 he supported an ultimately unsuccessful ministerial revolt by the knight Robert von Westerholt against Ludolf's relative, Count Christian III. from Oldenburg .

The line of the Counts of Altbruchhausen expired with Ludolf's grandson, Count Otto, in the middle of the 14th century. Apparently he had renounced the exercise of power as early as 1335. Altbruchhausen, as well as Neubruchhausen in the 14th century, then fell to the Counts of Hoya .

marriage

Heinrich was married to Hedwig, a born Countess von Wölpe . They founded the Oldenburg family's Altbruchhauser line.
