Ludwig August Gärttner, brother of Karl Gärttner , attended Latin school and then trained as a scribe . From 1816 to 1817 he was an assistant in the Crown Domain Section, and in 1816 he became an accountant at the National Debt Payment Fund. From 1816 to 1817 he was an accountant and from 1817 to 1823 the office director of the Hofdomänenkammer . In 1823 he took up his first position as a senior official at the Oberamt Besigheim , which he held until 1831. After that he was from 1831 to 1837 senior bailiff at the Cannstatt District Office . From 1837 to 1848 he was city ​​director of Stuttgart with the title and rank of senior government councilor. From 1848 to 1868 he was director of the Chamber of Accounts and the State Treasury, since 1866 with the title and rank of President. At the age of 78, he retired in 1868.
