Ludwig Bartels (lawyer)

Ludwig Friedrich Remigius Bartels (born October 9, 1846 in Giebichenstein , † December 25, 1907 in Merseburg ) was a German administrative lawyer and worked as a Prussian district administrator and governor .

Life

Bartels came from Langendorf (near Weißenfels) , where his family owned the manor there. After studying law at the University of Heidelberg , where he was a member of the Corps Saxo-Borussia , he joined the Prussian judicial service in 1875. In 1883 Bartels was appointed district administrator of the Mansfeld mountain district of the Merseburg administrative district of the Prussian province of Saxony and succeeded Friedrich von Koenen . He administered this office until 1885. His successor in office was Adolf Karl Ferdinand von der Recke .

Between 1885 and 1894 he was a lecturing councilor in the Reich Office of the Interior with the rank of a secret senior government councilor. Then from 1895 he was General Director of the Saxon Provincial Fire Society based in Merseburg .

Bartels was a member of the Prussian House of Representatives from 1889 until he left parliament on November 24, 1900 , in which he represented the constituency of Merseburg 5 (Mansfelder Gebirgskreis - Mansfelder Seekreis ). He was a member of the German Conservative Party .

From 1900 until his death in 1907 Bartels was governor of the province of Saxony.
