Ludwig Bergmann (botanist)

Ludwig Bergmann (born June 5, 1927 in Breslau ) is a German botanist and university professor .

biography

Bergmann is the son of the physicist Ludwig Bergmann . He submitted his doctoral thesis in botany in 1955 in Marburg and his habilitation thesis in 1963 in Göttingen . Until 1967 he worked as a researcher in the German Research Foundation (DFG) and as a private lecturer at the Plant Physiological Institute of the University of Göttingen . In 1967 he was appointed professor at the Botanical Institute of the University of Cologne . 1974 to 1975 Bergmann was Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences there.

Bergmann has published works on plant physiology, especially works with tissue cultures of Nicotiana tabacum , Juniperus and Daucus carota .
