Ludwig Deichgräber (born April 10, 1894 in Aurich ; † February 22, 1969 there ) was an East Frisian architect and farmer .

Life

Deichgräber was one of the sons of the Aurich master blacksmith Karl Ludwig Deichgräber (1853–1929) and his wife Marie, b. Begemann (1861-1942). His brother was the classical philologist Karl Deichgräber .

He took part in the First World War as a soldier and then studied architecture in Jüterbog . He then worked as an architect in Aurich and on various construction projects in East Frisia .

Since the 1930s he has also worked as a farmer and was involved in job creation and retraining projects at the YMCA Aurich on his farm in Dietrichsfeld in 1931.

His works include the new building of the Reformed Church in Jemgum in the style of Art Deco . After the building from the 14th century burned down on the night of January 31, 1930, Deichgräber did without the original barrel vault for the new construction ; instead of the steep gables, he opted for a flat ceiling construction. In 2005, the interior of the church was largely adapted to that of the 1930 reconstruction.
