from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ludwig Ferdinand zur Lippe-Brake (born September 27, 1680 in Halberstadt ; † February 21, 1709 in Wolfenbüttel Castle ) was the last count of the Lippe-Brake line in Brake .

Life

His parents were Friedrich zur Lippe-Brake (* July 10, 1638 - January 13, 1684) and Sophie Luise von Holstein-Beck (* April 15, 1650 - December 4, 1714), a daughter of August Philipp von Holstein- Beck . His father Friedrich was a brother of Count Casimir . Ludwig Ferdinand grew up with relatives of his mother in Holstein - Plön after his death .

When his cousin Count Rudolph died suddenly in 1707, he was the last living representative of the Lippe-Brake line and took over the government in the County of Lippe-Brake.

Count Ludwig Ferdinand died on February 21, 1709 at Wolfenbüttel Castle during a trip to Hanover and Wolfenbüttel.

Ludwig Ferdinand was not married and had no children. There were no other male successors in the Lippe-Brake line, so the line of the Counts of Lippe-Brake expired with him. The rule was claimed by Friedrich Adolf from the Lippe zu Detmold line just one day after his death . This was disputed in the Braker succession dispute.
