Ludwig Gustav Kleffel

Ludwig Gustav Kleffel (born January 13, 1807 in Goldberg (Mecklenburg) , † September 29, 1885 in Rostock ) was a German businessman and politician .

Life

Born as the son of a cloth merchant, Kleffel studied law at the universities of Jena , Berlin , Heidelberg and from 1841 at the University of Rostock . During his studies he became a member of the Jena fraternity in 1837 . After failing his bar exam with the government in Schwerin in 1842 and sentenced to six months' imprisonment and a fine in 1849 because of his demand for better conditions and modern legislation, he took over his father's company in Goldberg in 1852. He expanded the business to include one of the first photo studios in Mecklenburg; In 1860 he opened a photographic teaching institute.

In 1867 he moved to Berlin , where he ran a shop for photo accessories. He is considered one of the pioneers of photography in Germany.

In 1848 he was a member of the Mecklenburg Assembly of Representatives . From 1874 he was retired and lived in Rostock, where he died in 1885.
